My Wave

From Lahaina looking up into the West Maui Mountains. The West Maui mountains are one of the wettest places on earth, almost constantly covered in cloud and rain. The road up into the hills, beckons us into the cool and quiet of this beautiful valley.

The Silversword only grows on Mt. Haleakala, and nowhere else in the world.

Just before the sunrises on Mt. Haleakala. We are above the clouds at about 10k feet above seal level. This is one of the most popular sites to visit on Maui, and you must get there early, 4:30 am, to be sure of a good lookout along the rail. This is part of every trip I have made to Hawaii, and it is still a special event each time.
